Location: Birmingham with regional travel (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes from home location)
Salary: £55,000 + car
Hours of work: 40 per week
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract - 10 months, with potential to extend or become permanent
Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a highly capable M&E Asset Surveyor to support a major mobilisation programme across a national education estate.
Job Overview
This is a field-based role supporting a large-scale mobilisation programme across a diverse education portfolio, including colleges, secondary schools, primary schools and academies. The position plays a critical role in ensuring asset data accuracy, compliance, and readiness for transition into a long-term public sector FM contract.
Within 2-3 months, the role will transition into a large government FM contract, offering strong long-term stability and opportunities for progression. The successful candidate will provide technical assurance across mechanical, electrical, HVAC and fabric assets, supporting statutory compliance, planned maintenance strategies and capital investment planning.
Job Description
The role focuses on end-to-end asset capture, condition assessment and lifecycle data validation across M&E and building fabric systems. You will work across multiple sites, using approved mobile data-capture systems to ensure asset information aligns with contractual, statutory and information management requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed mechanical, electrical and fabric asset surveys across multiple educational sites
- Capture, verify and validate asset data using approved mobile data-capture systems
- Ensure asset information complies with Uniclass 2015 classification standards
- Undertake structured condition surveys, lifecycle assessments and compliance checks
- Identify missing, duplicate, obsolete or incorrectly tagged assets
- Produce structured and accurate asset registers aligned with AIM and AIR requirements
- Validate asset data against government tagging and information management strategies
- Provide technical input to support planned maintenance and capital investment planning
Person Specification
- Proven experience as an M&E Surveyor within the FM or building services sector
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, regulations and compliance standards
- Experience within FM, education, healthcare or public sector estates (preferred)
- High level of attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to produce clear, structured reports and technical recommendations
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently in a field-based role
